Week 4

Publiée le 20/06/2021
A week very intensive at every levels: physically, emotionnally, psychologically... I discovered so many things around the place where I stay 🏝️👀 and I also learnt about myself.

Monday, 14th

Who can pretend that an experience like this one is always amazing and we enjoy every times we live? Say that I always feel good is a lie. Like every challenges we raise, there are doubts, sadness, fears ... I'm part of another family for one month, but this doesn't prevent the loneliness I can feel sometimes.

So the beginning of the week was difficult, however, I found happiness in my activities. The plans were the same: hospital for the morning/school for the afternoon.

Wednesday, 16th

This morning, I began by the registeration, then I helped Calisto for the mensurations of the babies 🥰 and to finish, I went with Wyclife in the consultations room where I met patients and learnt again about diagnosys and their symptoms. I made a Malaria test  with success! 💉

Thursday, 17th: MBITA🤩

This day was so exausting but I was completed😄!

We took the waterbus with my friend, Faith at 7 AM to join Mbita (the town where I slept just before to join the project). Every thursday is a marketday at Mbita. The market was so big, lots of clothes, fruits, vegetables and ustensils were sold. The problem I had  was the wrong idea people have awards me: whites (Mzungo)=money so everywhee I need to negociate the prices! Ho, and another jugment some of them have is Coronavirus! I kindly asked to a woman to take a picture for us and she ran away saying in her language  that she didn't want to be contaminated!😱😱 That is in particular a reason which make me uncomfortable here...😠

So, we took breakfast first (chapateas with beans 😋), then I went to the supermarket (there is no one on the island). At around 10.30, we took a motobike for join another island (Rusinga island) where we visited a museum in remember of a potical man implicated in the emergency of Kenya (its independence, its laws, the education access....). He had many fights but was assassinated by his rivals...

After that historical time, we ate and drank at the same hostel I've already gone.Faith wanted to introduce me to her family  so I met her "father" (in reality it was her oncle) and her "sister" (her cousin). People here are so closed with their family members😅. We took photos, stood in her cousin's house. Then we took a motobike for join Mbita town , we had to took some fruits ad vegetables when we heared the waterbus arrived! We ran to take it at time (it was the last travel), hopefully, we succeeded to keep it🤭.

So, as you can see, this day was very very intensive!!

Friday, 18th

The night was TERRIBLE! The rain was so violent and powerful, I feared that the house could fall😅.

On the morning, I went to the school, I wanted to make pysical education but the pitch was too wet. So, I prepared and translated a game that I like called "werewolves" (in french, "loup-garou"). It was difficult for the pupils... I was a little bit desappointed but I need to adapt myself to them....the pitch was better so we tried to do some activities outside. I came back on the afternoon after lunch for one hour.

I wached plates and ustensils at home (I live in a family so I try to help as much as I can), then, I took my baskets, my music and... let' go for running!💪 I met a friend, Dezzary just at the beginning and she asked me to run with me. I really apreciated that time with her! But, it was not easy for her to run with her uniform...👀

The shower was so so good at the end 🤩 I took it and relaxed at Chillspot hostel🏝️.

Saturday, 19th

I woke up with a bad surpise: my credit phone was experied so I had to find someboy to help me quikly... I found a shop at Yokia where I bought new credits and the problem was resolved. However, I felt very tired and iritated, I needed to rest and sleep but at the same time, 4 ladies arrived in the house with big luggages for stay at home until tomorrow. Nobody told me anything. They were very nice but I felt obligated to leave the house. I found Mr. Calmax who wanted to introduce me to his family. In fact, this moment make me feel better, I met very warm people.☺️

Then, we went at the top of the island for see the sunset!!!😍🌄🏞️ The assention took 50 minutes (we walked very rapidely😅, I must precised that while Mr. Calmax made 1 step, I made 2!!). The landscapes was just awesome, I met people who lived so highly ! Could you imagine? you need to go down and go up for bring water, food, for join school, hospital... this life is so far away from our...😲 For example, Mr.Calmax uses to go at the top every morning at 6pm to bring food for his gardian dog, in charges of scares monkeys of the maize culture. This is also incredible! so many cultures are implented at the submit of the island !🌾

Mr. Calmax shew me a beautifull place where we were able to see all the island !! the view was just unforgettable, splendid !!🤩 I was completed.

We came back in the darkness. Dorsila was making a big supper with a chicken🐓

Sunset...🤩🌄
An unforgettable moment passed with Mr.calmax🙏
